FAQ's
1. Who would need your services?
Individuals, businesses, schools, government agencies, community-based organizations…. Anyone concerned about safety and security, whether at home, in the workplace, at school, on the street, or traveling abroad.
2. What do you offer that others don't?
We have over 90 years of combined experience in all levels of safety, security, investigations and analysis, to include counter-terrorism, crime avoidance and crime prevention. We take that experience and knowledge and apply it to meet the specific needs of all our clients, whether they are the person on the street, or the CEO of a multi-national corporation.
3. Why should we choose you?
We are knowledgeable, flexible, and we tailor our information to meet your specific needs. There are many companies that will install security systems for you, put up a fence, or provide security or bodyguards. There are not many companies that will work with you and tell you if you actually need any of that. We provide you with the information, education and training to allow you to make the decision about what best serves your situation.
4. Do you offer or install security systems?
Obsidian works with partner companies to design and perform the physical installation of security systems that best meet your needs.
5. Are you security guards?
We do coordinate and provide security for specific events. However, if you are looking for long-term, on-going security guard presence, we can make recommendations for you in that area.
6. Are you bodyguards?
We do provide personal protection services, to include executive protection and protective driving. With that said, our focus is providing the client with the information and tools necessary to reduce the need for personal protection services.
7. Are you Private Investigators?
Yes, we provide Private Investigation services.
8. Do you carry guns? Are you armed?
Very few situations require the need to carry - or use - a firearm or other weapon. We evaluate all situations on a case-by-case basis, and in accordance with the client's needs and desires. If necessary, we can be armed.
9. Do you give handgun training/firearm training?
We do provide training regarding the safe handling and storage of firearms, and what actions to take when confronted with a firearm, or when in a situation where a firearm is introduced. Further, we can provide education critical to your decision about purchasing or carrying a firearm, including the legal ramifications and the actual medical consequences of using a firearm on another. We can also make referrals to state-certified firearms instructors.
10. What is your availability? How much lead time do you need?
It depends on the service you require. If you would like an in-person training, consultation or staff in-service, we usually require two weeks notice to ensure schedule availability. With some of our existing clients, we are able to provide immediate physical security response and technical assistance. Business and residential security assessments can be scheduled with a few days notice. If what you require is information that can be delivered via electronic media - Travel Advisory information, for example - that can be delivered within a few days of the request, as that information would need to be researched. We make every effort to fill short term, time sensitive requests.
11. Can you provide references of previous or existing clients?
Yes. However, be advised that due to confidentiality, some of our clients may not want to be listed or contacted, and we will not disclose their information without their expressed permission.
